Avoid Surgery

Surgery may be a necessary course of treatment for some people with scoliosis, but it is not a perfect, consequence-free outcome – any form of corrective scoliosis surgery will result in a permanent loss of mobility in your spine. I can help you understand the effectiveness of non-surgical methods and explore treatment plans that will improve your structural alignment.

Stop spinal curve progression.

The only way to be sure that you won’t ever need surgery is to make sure that your curve doesn’t become more exaggerated. I will support you in achieving a balanced body.

“Now that I’ve gotten treatment from Joshua, I just wish I met him sooner! Joshua’s work is precise, effective and educational. I’ve gotten immediate pain relief following his treatment but also a much better understanding of my body as Joshua takes the time to explain the strains I put on my muscles and the stretches I can do at home to live pain-free.” – I.S.

1. Clarity

Throughout our work together you will be able to rely upon my decades of experience living with and working with scoliosis to answer all of your questions about your diagnosis, and map out a clear, comprehensive and easily understood plan for helping you succeed in achieving your health goals. I will take the time to make sure you fully understand the exact characteristics of your scoliosis. If need I can “translate” your radiology report into plain language. I will answer any questions you have about your X-rays, including the significance of the Cobb Angle measurement and how this knowledge affects you and your treatment.

2. Identification

At our first appointment we will work through a detailed analysis of your posture and coordination so that I am able to design a treatment plan that provides you with the very best support for achieving your health goals.

3. Treatment

You’ll gain a detailed treatment plan that is monitored and updated regularly as you/your child improves. You’ll discover the appropriate strengthening exercises, stretching routines and postural training techniques, which will allow you to generate greater flexibility, remain free of pain, strengthen your body, and improve your alignment.

I teach my clients all the necessary techniques and exercises I’ve used to improve my body and avoid surgery. While I can provide in depth personal attention and unlimited support through phone consultation and email, it’s essential to understand that successful treatment of scoliosis is a long-term commitment that will require time and effort on your part to bring optimal results.

The use of exercises and treatments for scoliosis are effective when they are integrated into your daily posture and coordination. Results are dependent on how fully you are willing to participate in your process. I encourage you to match your actions to your aspirations. This isn’t an easy fix, but it is a permanent and surgery free fix if you do the work, and I’ll be with you every step of the way.

“Physiotherapy, yoga, pilates and tai chi have all been helpful but after my first treatment with Joshua, I felt immediately encouraged. Here was someone who could understand my experience first-hand. Using structural integration therapy, Joshua works on those tight muscles with direct intensity and for the first time, the movement is coming back.” – R.T.
